The Corporation for National and Community Service just announced the names of five new grantmaking organizations selected to receive federal grant awards totaling to $13.9 million through its competitive Social Innovation Fund initiative. These second-round 2011 grantee ("intermediary") organizations include: Corporation for Supportive Housing, Mile High United Way, NCB Capital Impact, U.S. Soccer Foundation and United Way for Southeastern Michigan.
The 2011 awardees will extend the work of the 11 intermediaries selected in the first round of the Social Innovation Fund program, which started in 2010, by continuing to invest in programs to improve measurable outcomes in the areas of youth development, economic opportunity and healthy futures.
Through our Scaling What Works initiative, GEO is committed to extending the reach and impact of the Social Innovation Fund by supporting collaboration and information sharing among the grantmakers who receive grant awards, as well as between these organizations and the broader philanthropic community, to share learning and resources that connect grantmakers to practices that grow impact.
